What would you go with, the 2009 VW Jetta TDI or this new Honda Diesel?

If I had to choose, the Jetta. The Honda is just ugly. Between the two, the Jetta is much more stylish, but with the disappointing new MPG reports, I’d rather wait for the Volkswagen Tiguan TDI - it was supposed to debut in 2008 but looks like it may not happen for another couple of years.

Depends on the price. I’ll go for whatever gives me more for the buck. Either way, I’m glad to see someone else coming out with a diesel car.
Wow. That would be tempting. I’d have to see the price too. It would be nice to have another option… and one that is a little larger too.
The Honda sounds very interesting. The cosmetics and plushness of a Honda might be a plus over the Jetta. It just seems softer. More of a woman’s car.
On the other hand, the Jetta is proven. Which gets the better mileage?
Honda. The exchange rate makes the diesel Accord a winner here in the land of Baseball, Apple Pie and Che… eh er… Imported Cars!
Mr GM - can you please put a small diesel in the Malibu - @ 40+MPG I’ll buy one…
john, you aren’t really Alan, are you. I was just talking with Alan the other day and he is thinking of selling his 2005 Jetta TDI for a Malibu. He just bought his mom one as well, and I must say, GM did a nice job with the upgrades.
When you look at VW’s reliability, repair & service record the Honda becomes a real no brainer. I really like the way the vw’s drive; but my pocketbook can’t stand the maintenance & repair costs.
